Technology

A law firm cannot maintain a successful practice in today's legal climate without the infrastructure in place to allow its staff to productively handle its assignments and collaborate with its partners.  Korein Tillery has invested in the technology necessary to allow its attorneys and staff to maximize their effectiveness and level the playing field regardless of its opponent.

At the core of Korein Tillery's infrastructure is a high-speed network linking its offices and remote sites together and providing both voice and data service through a dedicated private network.  The network, though always available to Korein Tillery and its partners, is secured from others through intrusion detection and prevention appliances, multi-factor security, and other access controls to ensure the confidentiality of Korein Tillery work product.

Korein Tillery attorneys access this network wherever they may be using a variety of communication tools such as VPN, Citrix XenApp, and RIM Blackberry devices so that they are always available to address issues as they arise.  At the same time, Korein Tillery's mobile data is protected in case of loss or theft by whole-device data encryption.

Our attorneys and staff are able to work productively by utilizing the firm's knowledge management software: Interwoven WorkSite.  WorkSite helps us communicate and exchange information both inside and outside of the firm and provides access to firm data to each employee wherever they may be -even from their BlackBerry.  Clients and co-counsel are able to actively participate in the prosecution of matters though Korein Tillery's client extranet - Interwoven's WorkSite Web providing clients and co-counsel a place to securely discuss, share and collaborate on pleadings, correspondence, shared calendars, task lists and other information.

Korein Tillery Maximizes the Value of Firm Expertise with Interwoven

Korein Tillery's infrastructure is robust enough to accommodate the massive document production that comes with litigation of the scope practiced by the firm.  By utilizing Summation Enterprise on Microsoft SQL 2005 with terabytes of on-site data storage, the firm can handle production of millions of documents in each case.  This setup also allows for a collaborative review of these documents eliminating the need for wasteful and unproductive travel during the discovery phase and resulting in a discovery database that can be searched for OCR text or fielded data by any member of the litigation team.

Korein Tillery's investment in technology doesn't end at the office.  The most basic component of legal advocacy is the ability to effectively present simple solutions to complex problems.  In the courtroom this often is best accomplished through the use visual as well as audio presentation.  Early on Korein Tillery recognized that today's cases required more than an overhead projector by purchasing its first Trial View system from Exhibit One in 2001.  The Trial View system allows Korein Tillery to equip any courtroom in the nation with as much or as little technical equipment needed to communicate its message to the fact finder.  Preparing those presentations with the assistance of indata's TrialDirector software insures that Korein Tillery will be able to adjust that presentation as the circumstances change in real-time.  In was just this setup that allowed Korein Tillery to present a fully electronic trial in the Madison County, Illinois Courthouse in 2002 that resulted in a verdict of more than $10 billion dollars.
